Welcome to Hexgreave Hall Estate — a working rural business park set in the heart of Nottinghamshire, near Farnsfield. We combine centuries of history with modern, sustainable workspace for businesses of every size.
A place with deep roots
The Hexgreave name goes back at least seven centuries, first recorded as Boscus de Hekkesgrave in 1240. Camp Hill, in the estate’s north-east quadrant, is thought to date to Roman times — earthworks excavated in 1941 turned up Roman pottery on the site. In 1255 the land was gifted as a deer park to the Archbishop of York.
Hexgreave Hall itself was built between roughly 1750 and 1760, later reshaped by the addition of its present front elevation, with the surrounding parkland woods planted towards the end of that century. In more recent times the estate has been home to Sir Stuart Goodwin, the Sheffield steel magnate credited with saving golf’s Ryder Cup, and Sir John Eastwood, who helped make chicken an affordable meat for the nation. Tony Strawson purchased the estate, including the Hall and several old cottages, in 1996.
From historic hall to thriving business park
A full refurbishment has regenerated Hexgreave into a busy business park. Today it is home to 23 businesses operating across 15,000 square feet of office space, alongside 7 live/work properties. We offer flexible-term office space at all-inclusive, competitive prices, meeting rooms for hire in a relaxed setting, and live/work homes for those looking to combine life and work more effectively. The old boiler room has even been transformed into a bright on-site coffee shop.
Sustainability at our core
We’ve built ecological design into the estate wherever possible. Our own district heating system warms every property using willow grown on the estate and surrounding farms, and our solar panels can generate over 100KW of electricity.
Part of the community
Full-time grounds staff maintain the estate and its ancient parkland, home to a herd of red deer, and the estate is enrolled in the High Level Stewardship Scheme. We regularly engage with the wider community, hosting charitable events, races, and meetings. We’re proud to have won the Rural Business Awards’ Most Outstanding Rural Diversification Project in 2015.
